Quality & test
Challenge
Reynaers Aluminium, founded in 1965, has grown into an international and leading developer of architectural aluminium systems for (sliding) windows, doors, glass facades, verandas, awnings and much more. All their systems are extensively tested and certified in their own test centre. The result? In this way, they comply with current European and international standards in terms of comfort, safety, design and energy efficiency. They are then used by customers for building projects all over the world.
Reynaers Aluminium approached us with the request to develop a new machine for testing the durability of sliding door components. In addition, both the load and speed had to be adjustable and extensive data logging and data transmission functionality was also required.
Solution
We developed a machine with a carriage, which can apply a load up to 1000kg to the sample and then move it 3m with an linear servo motor. Equipped with accurate measuring systems, the machine can measure both load and frictional resistance. The test parameters (e.g. load, speed, acceleration, stroke length, number of cycles, …) can be easily adjusted and changed via the customized user interface. This allows the user to create different test programs himself. In addition, the correctness and reproducibility of the measurement data is also very important, which is why extra attention was paid to a simple calibration of the measurement system. In addition, it is possible to generate reports and there is a link with Reynaers Aluminium’s network infrastructure.
Results
Reynaers Aluminium wants to make a difference in the world of windows and doors by only supplying high quality standing products. This test machine enables them to test critical components in the early stages of development. This allows the necessary adjustments to be made at an early stage, resulting in clear savings in development. But even more important: this enables Reynaers to develop high-quality products in accordance with the European Construction Products Directive!
